i'm not sure maybe its just a nameWhat is chuan chao? i saw it on a chinese food menu...?
don't know
What I can gather is Chuan means "Roll".

My guess is it's a roll of some type.

Chao is a style of cooking as far as I've been able to find through searches.

What does the dish consist of?

That might help a bit.

Also are you sure that you have spelled it right?

Chuan is also a Chinese last name.

I also found that it in someones full name.

"Tai Chi Chuan Chao Li Chi teaches the traditional Chinese martial art."

It's defiantly a stumper.
It is similar to an egg roll, but without as much Bok Choi, made with both shrimp and pork and LOTS of shrimp and pork. Sometimes rolled in a larger than usual wrapper.
hi i think chuan chao was a ficticious kung~fu male.played by david carradine he would solve many crimes and help the underdog.hope ive helped ;O)
