Chinese Restaurants in USA?

OK so the meats on the menu in chinese restraurants in america are : chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, and sometimes fish i guess. I have heard rumors of some restraunts being shut down because of serving dog or cat. I was just wondering if this is true. and if so what are the chances/ odds/ or percent that people have ordered the menu subject but really ate cat or dog. Just wondering thank you. [real answers please]|||I am a former chef and that rumour has been swirling for years, think of it this way, how would a Chinese restaurant get the number of those animals in bulk to make there dishes, first of all I have yet to see a farm raising them, and to go to the humane society, they would have pay the adoption fee.

And for them to trap them behind the place and then use them it would need someone out there day and night to catch them. It is a rumour started back in the 70's and in China they do use some similar animals in the foods, but there raised for that purpose, like rabbits they are not considered food as we have them as pets, but in some countrys they run wild like chickens and are fair game.|||there have been real instances of certain places getting caught w/ meats in their cooler that were not on the menu .

1 I know of personally was in a good bit of trouble for serving horse meat when it did not state that on the menu , false advertising is the crime there .

as far as rats -cats or dogs I have heard of it + it is usually claimed it's was for their own private consumption .

but that is not a good idea to even have these types of animals in an establishment that would be totally ridiculed no matter what the excuse.

it's just not good business .

whether these meats are being used to stretch their budget or feed themselves I will never know { more than likely }.

some people are hung up on eating certain things- they could not get past anything but chicken -pork- beef as meats.

we actually have buffalo here , + duck , alligator etc , i eat them all !!

I only ask for whatever is being served , state it on the menu

I would probably try it if i have not already.|||rumors are just rumors

OR

twisted facts of the media

GET IT STRAIGHT

at one time decades ago as the Vietnam war refuges came here there was a problem with the culture differences

but as they have to have a license the laws were passed..

NOW

I know a restaurant recently was caught with cats,, in their meat cooler..

BUT

it was NOT for the restaurant but for Private friends..

but they were fined ...

And the bigots continue to spread the rumors because they are bigoted and uninformed illiterates

Edit

I had heard this back in 50's fourth grade Catholic school..|||Chinese restaurants.... it's false.

Most likely a competing restaurant or someone playing a gag that starts that rumor.

http://www.snopes.com/horrors/food/chine鈥?/a>|||think its not true but then again sometimes the meat is pink looking and unidentifiable so maybe i ate cat already|||True or not I don't think you would be able to tell the difference. Things like that are known to happen any where in the world.|||OK here's the deal. If they are serving cat I AINT DEAD YET SO SERVE ON! LOL|||why would they serve cat or dog when chicken is ALWAYS on sale? Racism at its silliest.|||I don't think so.

Ask before going in if they are serving cat or dog just to be sure. Then run out if they are.( LOL)
