What should we have from the Chinese?

Hey guys and girls, how are you all?

Tomorrow me and family are sitting down to a new movie, and we want CHINESE FOOD! lol. So, we're pretty new to this whole game so we need advice on what tastes best! We've had the basics like rice and chow mein but other than that we're virgins to the more, shall we say, vibrant side of the menu.

So what do you guys recommend? Describe the tastes, the pleasures, the absorbing qualities you get from eating such fantastic meals.

(And finally, what the hell are the point in prawn crackers? They don't taste like anything!?)

Thanks. What should we have from the Chinese?
I love Kung Pao chicken, its spicy, and very good. lots of veggies and chicken in a spicy, chili type brown sauce. Sometimes depending on where you go it can also be a tad on the sweet side. . . . I also like lemon or orange chicken. . . The citrus flavors added to the chicken like that, of course, lemon will taste like lemon and orange will taste like orange, and they put the sauce over the chicken other then the citrus flavor, its a sweet and sticky type sauce, Usually the chicken is the same as just regular mar far chicken. I also love egg rolls. Or the little strips of pork that they have for appetizers. try the hot mustard on the pork if you dare. .. . . dont put too much or you wont be able to breathe, lol lets see oh and i love brocolli and beef, and of course that is just broccoli crowns in a brown almost gravy type sauce with slices of beef. Its good to eat that dish with steamed rice because the sauce can be a little heavy, but definately good. . . . hope your family has a good evening relaxing and eating good food! I would pay anything to have a night with my family again like that! We take so many things for granted, I am happy to hear some people still make time for their family. . .
LEMON CHICKEN!!!! It's the best! It's a must for my husband and I always, we don't feel like we had chinese unless we get it.

For soups: Sizzling Rice or Won Ton.What should we have from the Chinese?
Vibrant? As in...spicy?

Try the General Tso's chicken. It is THE single most popular dish in Chinese restaurants I think.

Or sample from a buffet? But be careful with buffets. Some of them are nasty!

Don't worry about spice. It shouldn't be hot.

I would just watch yourself if they ask you with a 1-10 how hot you want. Always start with less than 5 unless you like spicy!

Oh, and dip the prawn crackers in sweet/sour sauce or hot mustard. Another good idea is to save them in case your food is too spicy as the blandness will absorb spice. Never try to wash away spice with drinks. Spicy means oil and you have to get the oil off your tongue!

IF YOU LIKE MILD,

Try pan-fried noodles, any of the mushu dishes (like mushu pork), or something like seafood in a bird;s nest. And anything that looks like a meal sized soup (might be called house special noodle soup) is going to be a real winner.

Enjoy!
well you can ask for ;;;;;; (1). egg roll or spring roll (2) chicken chop suey, it can be meat also. (3) rice vermicilli or pancit bihon (4) chicken mushroom with cream sauce (5) chicken with ginger (6) soups dumpling with meat or corn soup

those are my favorites and you could give a try. sorry i could not describe it to you because i got so hungry now while typing, hoping i have all these dishes infront of me.hmmmm hmmmmm yum yum. enjoy.....
Egg drop soup is good
Moo Shu Pork - Chinese black mushrooms, bean thread noodles and Mandarin pancakes

Moo Goo Gai Pan - This classic Chinese dish calls for cooked chicken--making it a perfect way to use up leftover chicken. If you don't have any on hand, you can poach a whole chicken breast for 20 minutes, then cool and cut it into bite-size cubes

Shrimp Surprise - The surprise comes in the form of a secret ingredient: ketchup. Don't be put off! It tastes great and combines two kid-popular foods.

Cold Sesame Noodles - These noodles are addictive. Kids love the taste, and grown-ups appreciate a healthful meal that can keep in the refrigerator for at least a day or two.

Beef with Favorite Vegetables - Try this dish with Chinese cabbage, green beans or broccoli--whatever your family enjoys most.

Emerald Fried Rice - Fried rice, a mild Chinese mainstay, is appropriate especially for a child new to this nation's varied cuisines. Serve this with a Chinese vegetable, such as steamed spinach with soy sauce and sesame seeds.

Happy eating!
i just wanted to say, theres a difference between chinese food and chinese cuisine (the former is more americanized)

anyhow, i recommend the basics: pork or shrimp fried rice, vietnamese spring rolls, more pork^^, steaks

its better if you just check the menu though
