On chinese menus, is the vegetarian crispy duck usually vegan?

curious.

what do other vegans order when ordering chinese takeout. or in a chinese all you can eat?

do veggie spring rolls and curry samosas tend to be vegan?

[ive tried asking but never get a reply]On chinese menus, is the vegetarian crispy duck usually vegan?
I bought a tin of 'Mock Duck' lately. I always cringed when I saw it. I don't like my food to try too hard to be meat, ick. But I read the ingredients and it is basically seitan that's been textured to look like it used to have feathers (why??), and was vegan. If they called it seitan on the can I would have bought it AGES ago. The mock meat in Chinese restaurants is traditionally seitan and highly likely to be vegan.

I've been told that the veg spring rolls might have egg in the wrapper.

Samosas that I buy in the shop are vegan but I once ordered them from a restaurant and they were suspiciously creamy.

You will have to ask though. If they don't answer, don't eat there. Try calling ahead so you don't get stuck.

((Com'on people read the question. She's asking if the Vegetarian Duck is vegan. sheesh))
Crispy duck is actual once-was-real-live duck, unless it specifically says "vegetarian duck", so no, not usually vegan.

-- edit -- the "vegetarian duck" is typically vegan, no eggs or such. It's not bad, but it tastes a lot like duck, which is a bit off putting!!

Veggie spring rolls are typically vegan.

Samosas may have ghee, which is clarified butter. Best to ask.On chinese menus, is the vegetarian crispy duck usually vegan?
I often have vegetarian chicken in black bean sauce with rice (I would choose brown rice but they don't offer it at our Chinese place) or mixed vegetables with black bean and garlic sauce and rice. Both very tasty, they also offer vegetarian duck as well but I don't like it. I asked for the ingredients and the vegetarian duck and chicken are vegan as well. If you have asked them point blank if the spring rolls have meat in them they should be able to say yes or no, if they can't, don't eat them!!!! I have had trouble in that department before!!!!! As it has been said, if they won't tell you what is in something, take your business elsewhere!!!!! *Smile* Good luck!!!!!
Your best bet is too ask them what is in it. Don't just ask if it is vegan because few understand vegan there are groups of people who consider themselves vegan who actually aren't and don't understand what it really means (they think it is just a diet). Always ask what is in it and if they won't answer then don't eat there they don't want your business.

I have a place near me that serves dead bodies but they also have a very good vegetarian section and they have vegan on their sign and they are very open too making things vegan if they aren't. They have a lot of mock chick'n and it is 100% animal free and delicious and I am lucky to have it nearby but sadly you might not be as lucky.

Never ask others if something tends to be vegan because maybe it does but your place might be an exception and eating another body is never a good thing. I would always ask the restaurant and double check and don't be afraid to ask.

crispy duck is a fake name for take out or all u can eat, They can't afforded that dish at all u can eat.

Spring rolls is nothing but cabbage rolled up with a wonton skin and dip fry them.

So many places r fool the dumb people for them to increase their profit and pocket the sale taxes that they not suppose to charge for taxes
Concerning veg. crispy duck, make sure you know the place you're ordering from doesn't consider duck a vegetarian option. I have seen 'vegetarian' cookbooks that include actual chicken and fish :\
Duck is usually not vegetarian, unless it's made from fake meat. (Highly unlikely)
I usually get brown rice and a spring roll mmm:)
