In my area Chinese restaurants have a different menu for non Chinese.?

I'm not offended, but i would like to know what I am missing out on. gui lan for one, but most places still have this, it's just not on the menu they give me.

restaurants in my are are primarily Cantonese and Peking.

What am I missing out on?In my area Chinese restaurants have a different menu for non Chinese.?
The reason two menu is that must be many Chinese go there, because the can not read English. The gui lan

is Chinese Broccoli, because many Chinese don't like American broccoli. the the taste and cooking is a little different, also the ingredient. Some vegetable r order advance save it for their special customer that they come 2 meals a day.
FYI Im not Chinese...so i could be talking complete nonsense =)

My ex took me to a restaurant and ordered from the "secret menu", from what i can gather its because there think that certain dishes dont appeal to non-chinese people...so they dont bother translating them.

I remember there being various types of hotpot, chicken feet, eel, and some special steamed egg/tofu things on the non-translated menu. Nothing hugely mysterious but if you cant read chinese you wont get the things on the menu unless you specifically ask for an item (and they arent going to translate it for you =P)

if you can read chinese ask for it,otherwise take a chinese friend and test it out!In my area Chinese restaurants have a different menu for non Chinese.?
Any Chinese restaurant that has a seperate white peoples menu belongs back in the 1950's and is not worth going to. They obviously offer hard core Chinese dishes like chickens feet, sea slug, jelly fish etc.. The Chinese will in essence eat anything that moves and every part of every animal. This is not usually to the taste of westerners who prefer beef and black bean sauce a very westernized dish. Most Chinese in China could not afford beef.
