Dietary habits vary with culture. Get used to it. It is not for us to say what they eat, as it in no way interferes with us. To answer your original question, that would be a "yes". People in and around Beijing and Giuzhou province (particularly the Korean population) will miss this part of their normal diet. They are being inconvenienced because some have not taken the time to educate themselves about Asian culture. They are not eating cute cuddly house pets. These animals are bred for the purpose of food, just like cattle, poultry etc.. Also, you have it backwards. They are currently cow-towing to the western consumer by removing these menu items.

What is your question? I think it is fine if different countries want to eat dog or cat meat. Pigs have been proven to be more intelligent than dogs and it is acceptable for Westerners to eat pork.
