Why don't people that need to eat more veges turn to Chinese food?

Chinese vege dishes are the best tasting and has the most variety. Most American families don't know how to cook their veges. We just steam them or boil them. No wonder our kids don't like veges. If you dive into the Chinese menu in the restaurants and in Chinese FAMILY HOMES (they cook different stuff if u didn't know) you would find that all the veges all just out of this world. It just make sense to eat Chinese style veges because of the quality, freshness, and variety. They eat all the veges that Americans eat PLUS their own.

I think the problem is that many people haven't had more 'real' Chinese food so many don't know what I am talking about. I think it is time to incorporate Chinese cooking styles into American homes.

Agree? Why don't people that need to eat more veges turn to Chinese food?
Because you would be amazed at how close-minded most people are about food. When I buy bok choy at the grocery store, they look at me like I'm from another planet.
Most fast food chinese is loaded with oil, sodium and MSG - even the veggies! That stuff is not good for you and minimizes the benefits of eating the veggies there. My favorite way of preparing veggies is roasting them with a little olive oil, salt %26amp; pepper.

No need to get snitty! Why don't people that need to eat more veges turn to Chinese food?
yes, i do agree..... "real" chinese food is excellent and very very healthy...

think it's all stigma and bad press, just like the presumption that british cooking is crap.

Someone should have a show on telly to teach proper chinese cooking.
I agree somewhat. In general, to get the most benefits from your veggies it is better to eat them raw or slightly cooked, which is how they're cooked in Chinese cuisine. The problem with Chinese food is that the sauces are very high in calories, so while, in one aspect you get a more nutritious dish, in the other aspect the nutritional benefits are negated by the high calorie sauces.
I agree - I think that a lot of people's views of Chinese food is the fried stuff - fried rice, General Tso's, etc. I often make stir fry veggies with very little oil and it tastes delicious! Very fresh, healthy and tasty. This perception comes from the fast food Chinese restaurants, and what not, in the malls. I hope more people try this kind of cooking... I am a meat eater, so I will usually add lean beef or chicken to my Chinese cooking, but it can easily be omitted for vegetarians!
when people think chinese food they think MSG and cats instead of chicken.

I think homemade chinese food (or any food) is the best because you can control the ingredients and make it the way you like it. My family doesn't even order out for pizza, we make our own at home.

any food worth eating is worth making right, so putting the extra effort into making it yourself can be as good as the consumption.
I honestly don't know about authentic Chinese food, but I love Japanese food...my mom learned when we lived there and she has taught me...recently I started eating healthier and I remembered all of her fabulous recipes, my husband loves them and we are eating a ton of veggies and fish...
