The menu I'm talking about ranges from 1 to 130 items and little chili icons are next to some of the numbers to denote spicy foods. Each place seems to have the same exact menu with almost the same exact setup. Are they playing a joke on us? :DWhy do all the Chinese restaurants have the same menu?
I don't think it's a joke; I've noticed the same thing no matter where I travel. My only idea is that there is one financier (or company) that sets up Asian immigrants with work (restaurants), using much the same printers, vendors, etc for cost containment. I can't see another way where independent folks would immigrate to our great country and then independently start virtually the same operation, no matter where in the US they settled. The initial cost to set up this business would be beyond most folks' means, I would imagine.
I don't eat a lot of Chinese...but it's sort of the same at the Mexican restaurants in my town. A number eleven is always a burrito, a taco, and a enchilada...no matter which restaurant I'm in. There are differences in some parts of the menus, but those numbered entrees are always the same. Why do all the Chinese restaurants have the same menu?
That's a very good question!!! I do occasionally eat (American version) Chinese food, but it's not as good as Thai food. Thai is fresher, and not full of sauces such as Hunan and soy sauce. Once I tried Thai, I have lost my interest is eating Chinese. (can you say--- meh.) Good Luck!
because that dish is popular
same name, not the same taste though
Hello, it's almost 10 years later. The burning question is still unanswered1! I too am pondering this late at night. How are there asian people to staff every rural Chinese restaurant with no large asian community for hundreds of miles? The consensus on the internet is "its just what the American palate wants" which just isn't adding up! Those people aren't paying attention to the fact that the faded pictures of food printed of plexiglass and lit from behind are THE SAME IN EVERY SINGLE RESTAURANT!!? What?! This mystery goes deeper than "the American palate"!
