THANKS|||They originate in different provinces in China, so yes, they are prepared a bit differently, use different spices etc.|||i think which is made chiniese food diffirent than any other food is the soces the put it on the food|||the taste and ingredients are very different.

Since they have harsh winters they eat a lot of pickled and preserved food. Peking duck is one of the most famous dishes of the region.
Food in the Eastern part of China has more braised items. They also cook a lot of seafood since they are closer to the ocean. Most of China's soy sauce is produced in the east and they have a lot of red cooked dishes. They are also experts in sweet %26amp; sour dishes.
Food in the Western Part of China is dominated by the spice of Sichuan. Sichuan pepper, ginger, chili oil are very common ingredients. Hot and sour soup is one famous dish from the region.
Food in the Southern part of China is more popularly known as Canton style. They are most famous for sauces like oyster, hoisin, black bean and XO. The South is also known for it's more adventuresome eating like shark fin and snakes. Pork is also the favored meat product preparing it roasted whole and char siu style.
